After the 75 candles lit in its honour in the last year, the birthday present given to this hotel could be no more important and well deserved. True recognition from among the greats of the hotel world.
In 2001 the Grand Hotel Sitea, one of the first members of the THI Group, is to become one of the “Locali Storici d’Italia” (Historic Hotels of Italy).
This association, founded 1975 through the efforts of Enrico Guagnini and Angelo Pozzi, sought to give a higher profile and greater importance to the conservation of the long-established hotels, restaurants and literary patisseries and cafés that have provided a backdrop to the events of Italy’s history.
Only ten establishments at most gain this recognition each year, having been selected from the 30 who apply for inclusion on the basis of strict criteria that assess historical value and the conservation of rooms and furnishings.
